Full-cycle hydrogeological services
Volkovgeology JSC carries out hydrogeological work to supply water to industrial facilities, shift camps and settlements: from calculating water demand and drilling wells to approving groundwater reserves and obtaining a special water use permit.
Pre-design and financial planning
Stage objective. Define the overall concept of the facility, calculate water demand and set the budget.
- Collection and analysis of archive data: maps, earlier reports and data from neighbouring wells
- Outline design of the facility
- Water consumption and discharge balance: daily volumes for industrial, domestic and drinking needs and irrigation
- Cost estimate covering design, drilling, equipment, laboratory analyses and state reviews
- Approval of the facility’s location by the basin inspectorate, including water protection zones and strips
Design, survey and field work
Stage objective. Prepare the survey design, drill the well and measure its characteristics.
- Hydrogeological work design, with a state or independent review for large facilities
- Drilling a hydrogeological well to the aquifer
- Pumping tests to determine the actual yield and drawdown
- Well passport: depth, design, casing diameter, static and dynamic water levels
Laboratory testing and review
Stage objective. Confirm water safety and legalise the volumes of the groundwater source.
- Chemical, bacteriological and radiological analysis of samples in an accredited laboratory
- Sanitary and epidemiological opinion on compliance with sanitary standards
- Hydrogeological study report and water intake model
- Approval of reserves by the State or a Regional Reserves Committee where abstraction exceeds 1,000 m³ per day
Permitting
Stage objective. Obtain the legal right to abstract and use water.
- Compiling the document package: calculations, well passport, sanitary opinion and land title documents
- Application for a special water use permit via the eLicense.kz portal
- Review by the basin inspectorate within 10 working days
- Result: a special water use permit for up to 27 years with approved reserves
